Next game: Mt Warren Park 10 April

Hello everyone

For those who may not know, I have taken over as club secretary. I want to take this opportunity to thank Rodney for all his hard work over the last few years. He deserves a well earned break. And I hope I can "fill his shoes".

The next game for the 2011 season is at Mt Warren Park Golf Club on Sunday 10 April, arrival at 6.15am for tee-off at 6.30am.

This is the 4 club only game (your putter and three other clubs only). For those who wish to play with more than four clubs, that is ok, but no points!!

The address is 13 Bardyn Halliday Drive, Mt Warren Park (opposite the Beenleigh RSL). The number of the pro shop is 3287 1951.

To get there, take exit 35 for (heading south on the M1) towards MAIN STREET, at the roundabout, take the 4th exit onto Rochester Drive heading to Beenleigh/Mount Warren Park. Continue to follow Rochester Drive. Go through 1 roundabout and then turn left at Vermont Cres. Take the 1st left on to Robert Stanley Drive. Take the 3rd left on to Merrow St. Take the 1st left on to Bardyn Halliday Drive.

From the city I estimate the drive time to be about 30-40 minutes (at that time of morning).

Please email me (or call) as soon as possible if you are attending the game so I can organise numbers with the Mt Warren Park. Remember to check the club blog for news.

Yours,
Owen

Redland Bay game: 20 March 2011

Nine brave/foolhardy souls came out to play, splashing in the puddles that made up Redland Bay Golf Course, a course that seems to be jinxed for our little band of golfers.

Snorkels & flippers would have been better than drivers & wedges, but credit to many of you, the scores were pretty good.

I do not include myself in that company however, it would have been better if I tried to hit the ball with a wet fish & believe me I think I could have found some out there.

Well done to all of you for turning up & let’s hope we never have to use the umbrellas again this season.

Here arethe results:

1st place on 35pts – Ken Greedy

2nd place on 33pts – Rodney Topor

3rd place on 32pts – Ian Smith

NTP on the 6th – Phillip Munene

NTP on the 16th – Phillip Munene

MLD on the 18th – Ken Greedy

The FLD was not won unfortunately.
.
Hope to see you all (and more) at Mt Warren Park for the 4 club only game on 10th April 2011.

Regards,

Paul (Captain)

P.S. – Pace of play was mentioned as a concern after the game, could I ask all players to be mindful of this issue, we must try to keep up with group ahead of our own group but if you do loose pace, then make the extra effort to regain that place.

(I’ll mention this again pre the tee off at the next game)

Next game: 20 March at Redland Bay Golf Club

The next game for the 2011 season is at Redland Bay Golf Club on Sunday 20 March, arrival at 7.00am for tee-off at 7.20am. The address is North Street, Redland Bay, off and the number of the pro shop there is 3206 8143. To get there, take the Boundary Road exit, near a cemetery as I recall, off the Cleveland - Redland Bay Road. You can get there either from north along the Mt Gravatt - Capalaba Road or from the south along the Beenleigh - Redland Bay Road. I estimate it will take me about 40 minutes to get there from Sunnybank Hills. It would be quicker as the crow flies but there are no roads as the crow flies.

There will be a very short Annual General Meeting immediately after the game. We're experts at running short meetings. Please consider joining the Committee in some capacity or other.

As usual, please let me know asap whether or not you will be playing. We look forward to a good turnout for the game!
