Golf: 17 July at Nudgee Golf Club (south course)

Hello everyone

After the rain at Windaroo, I’m sure everyone is looking forward to a nice sunny day for the next round of the 2011 season...I know I am. This round is at Nudgee Golf Club (south course) on Sunday 17 July, arrival at 7.20am for tee-off at 7.38am. Another a late start, so hopefully not too chilly!

The address is 1207 Nudgee Road, Nudgee. The number of the pro shop is 3267 5885 (for cart bookings).

To get there follow the Gateway motorway north from the Sir Leo Hielscher Bridges (nee Gateway bridge). Approximately 9kms north of the Sir Leo Hielscher Bridges take the Nudgee exit (where the Shell Service Station is located). Approximately 100 metres after exiting you will reach a t-intersection, this is Nudgee Road. Turn right into Nudgee Road. This will lead you back over the Gateway Motorway (approximately 500 metres). Once you have crossed over the motorway, entry into Nudgee GC is approximately 100 metres on your right. If you are heading in from the north, take the Nudgee Road exit and veer left into Nudgee Road. The entrance to the golf course is approximately 50 metres on your right. From the city I estimate the drive time to be about 20 minutes (at that time of morning). Please email me (or call) as soon as possible if you are attending the game so I can organise numbers with Nudgee. Remember to check the club blog for news.

Windaroo Game 12.06.2011

Here’s a surprise for everyone, it rained for this game, no wonder the poor golf courses around the sunshine state are having such bad time financially, but thanks to a few of our brave souls (10) who turned up to play even in these bad conditions this course had a little to put in the till.
Well done ladies & gents every little helps.

The course was in surprisingly good shape and playing in typical Windaroo fashion (pretty difficult)

Now to the game, due to the course and the wet conditions nobody set the house on fire, with scores staying below the average of recent times.

Commendable scores by Owen, Ian & Mark C (I think Owen was quite surprised to have taken top spot with his 32pts)

The new putting comp, although in need of a tweak or two, was generally received well, Mark C, blew all male competitors away mainly by landing all approach shots 2 or 3 inches off the green, knocking it toward the pin & one putting (I saw this way too often) next time with a dry course he wont be able to stop them short of the green, that’ll sort him out.

Thanks to all for turning up, see you at Nudgee Sth on the 17th of July.

Here are the results:

1st place on 32pts – Owen Wright
2nd place on 31pts – Ian Smith
3rd place on 30pts – Mark Coster

NTP on the 7th – Ian Smith
NTP on the 11th – not taken
MLD on the 13th – Ian Smith
LLD– not taken
Mens putting prize – Mark Coster
Ladies putting prize – Janine Walker

Regards,
Paul (Captain)
