St Lucia (SHIELD Game) AUG 12^th 2018

A field of 9 players for our yearly special event – The shield game.

The first time many of us had played at St Lucia for many years (if at all) and although it is a council owned course, I thought it wasn’t in too bad a condition (apart from none of the bunkers had seen a rake for a while, the social golfers who tend to play these courses sometimes forget the little things like that) but as we were playing a three person ambrose format, we didn’t always have to play out of them.

Although it was only a short course, the par 3’s were a challenge and the lack of knowledge of greens and shape of hole meant we were all kept busy.

Overall a good day out, it would have been better with a few more players, finger crossed for one or two more at the regular game next month.

Mens Long drive 17th – Paul Wellington

Ladies Long drive 17th – Karen Greedy

1^st place on 56.67 nett –Paul Wellington, Phil Dawson and Paul Lockwood-Lee

2^nd place on 59.34 – Ian Smith, Ken Greedy and Dave Coster

3^rd place on 61.5 – Rohan Dowling, Karen Greedy and Dan Williams

Big thanks to everyone for taking the time & taking the drive to make the shield game as enjoyable as it was.

Next game is at Wynnum on the 9^th of September at 7.44am tee off.
