HILLS - JIMBOOMBA JULY 17TH 2016

HILLS - JIMBOOMBA JULY 17TH 2016

Just eight hardy souls made it out to Jimboomba, with many no doubt being put off by the weather forecast, which as it turned out was pretty right. Drizzle to Moderate showers for a large part of the front nine & clearing for the second nine, with the sun arriving as we walked down the 18th.

The front nine (I believe) is the toughest and the conditions really stuffed me & a few others up out there.

Second nine was hopefully a different story for most and made some shocking scores look a little more respectable.

The low handicappers certainly led the way, not really allowing the weather to dictate their day, that’s why they get paid the big bucks I suppose.

Thanks to all who made it all the way out to Jimboomba. Now for the results:

NTP on the 8th – Dan Williams

NTP on the 13th – not taken

Mens Long drive 18th – Paul Wellington

Ladies Long drive 18th – Karen Greedy

1st place on 42 points – Ian Smith

2nd place on 39 points – Paul Wellington

3rd place on 32 points – Dan Williams

Next game for the mid-season shield is at Pacific Harbour Golf Club on the 21st of August. (Should be good, I don’t think we have played there before?) Partners will be by quasi random draw and format will be 2 person Ambrose.

There will be a special price for the shield game as it normally involves a cart & some sort of food deal, but hang on for more details on that when the call up comes through.

Regards until then.

Wynumn Golf Club - 12/6/16

Wynumn Golf Club - 12/6/16

4 groups again at Wynumn. Again - the course was in great condition for the time of year and we managed to avoid any rain.

Sad to see that Ken couldn't make it...I was going to have a few words with him about trying to play off 8!!

Winners
1st: Phil Dawson - about time
2nd: Paul Wellington - again
3rd: David Geils - again

Send me through the nearest the pins and long drive and I'll update accordingly.

 Points table below ...

Carbrook Golf Club - 22/5/16

Carbrook Golf Club - 22/5/16

OK - a couple of months behind with this report..

Lovely conditions at Carbrook and I thought the course was the best I'd seen it for this time of year. No shark sightings for a while so presumably the golf ball hungry fish has moved on.

A good turnout of 15 or so players...with the usual suspects near the top of the leaderboard.

Winner: Howard Ward
Runner-up: Paul Wellington
3rd: ??

Mens Long Drive : Doug Chalmers
Womens Long Drive: not claimed

Mt Warren Park, 17th April 2016

Mt Warren Park, 17th April 2016
A good field of 17 players for Mt Warren Park, so many thanks to all those who attended.
A tale of two nines was the go for a lot of players I think, with our first nine (10-18) being greener, flatter & easier to score, if you managed to hold it together for our second nine (1-9) then you will have been pleased with your overall card I suspect.
The 7th is always a doozie of a hole (long L/H dog leg with the power cables) but who nicked the fairway? Clearly they have a problem keeping the grass green & healthy on that one, although I can’t blame it for my troubles as I didn’t touch any part of the course for that hole.
Now for the results:
NTP on the 9th – Bill Ryan
NTP on the 16th – Paul Wellington
Mens Long drive 17th – Howard Ward
Ladies Long drive 17th – Not taken
1st place on 41 points – Paul Wellington
2nd place on 38 points – Dave Coster
3rd place on 37 points – David Geils
Next game is at Carbrook on the 22nd of May at 7.00am tee off.
Regards.

Wantima game 13th March 2016

Wantima game 13th March 2016

Second game in & we struck some miserable weather, the on again off again rain and warm muggy conditions in-between, made for some, a difficult & trying day.
Added to that the greens which had just been cored, you’d have expected some woeful points totals, but from what I saw some people handled it with aplomb.

Very nice to see the return of some of the very new players, we obviously didn’t try hard enough to put you off last time out, and we once again had Mr Owen Wright grace us with his presence, welcome back.

A good field of 14 showed up so the competition was definitely on for young and old, but the season is already beginning to look interesting with Paul Wellington & David Geils showing the early consistency.

Now for the results:

NTP on the 10th – Peter Johnston.

NTP on the 12th – David Geils.

Mens Long drive 14th – David Geils.

Ladies Long drive 14th – alas, no ladies made the game.

1st place on 40 points – David Geils. (Will one of the old guard ever win again?)

2nd place on 39 points – Paul Wellington (Somebody has to stop him)

3rd place on 35 points – Ash Misra

Next game is at Mt Warren Park on the 17th of April at 7.15am tee off.

Regards until then.
